Grief can be one of life’s toughest experiences. It reshapes us, challenges us, and yet, through memory and love, it can also lead to healing.
My name is Larry D. Laine. Over the past few years, I have navigated the painful journey of loss following the passing of my daughter, Ingrid. What began as a private collection of poems, written to process my sorrow, has transformed into a published book: In Remembrance Of.
This book is more than just poetry; it serves as a companion for anyone experiencing grief. Each page holds heartfelt words, reflections of love, and the faith that sustains us through difficult times. Many readers have shared that the book has provided them with peace, hope, and a reminder that they are not alone in their struggles.
What You’ll Discover in the Book:
In Remembrance Of is a sincere collection that offers comfort and understanding to those who are grieving.
The poems and reflections are deeply rooted in real experiences, capturing the raw emotions associated with loss. For example, one poem details a simple moment shared with Ingrid, like a walk in the park, evoking memories that resonate with parents who have lost children. Each piece reminds us that grief is a universal emotion; it is natural to feel the weight of sadness at times.
Pages filled with words of faith, love, and comfort provide a gentle embrace for those who may feel isolated in their pain. Contributions from my wife and daughter make this a collective journey of remembrance, reminding us that love continues to connect us even in absence.
Most importantly, the book emphasizes that healing is possible. According to a study by the Journal of Clinical Psychology, 80% of people report finding ways to cope and adjust positively after significant loss. Through In Remembrance Of, readers are encouraged to embrace their feelings and navigate their paths toward healing at their own pace.
Why I Write
Initially, I never planned to share these poems with anyone. They were simply my way of processing the immense grief I experienced after losing Ingrid. However, when friends and even strangers expressed how my words provided them with solace, I realized that the book needed to exist, not only for me but for those walking their own paths of grief.
Writing became a therapeutic outlet, allowing me to express emotions that often felt too heavy to bear. Each poem is a tribute to the love I hold for my daughter and the moments we shared. For example, one poignant poem recalls her laughter—a sound that still fills my heart with warmth.
Through this process, I learned that sharing my journey could help others feel less isolated. Grief can be lonely, but through shared stories and reflections, we can create a community of support and understanding.
Looking Ahead
This is just the beginning of my journey. I am currently developing follow-up projects, including a Workbook Edition of In Remembrance Of. This edition is designed for book clubs, adult classes, and grief support groups.
My hope is to provide a space where communities can gather, share, and heal together. The workbook will include prompts and exercises that encourage reflective discussion, helping individuals explore their own grief journeys in a nurturing environment.
By fostering these connections, I believe we can support one another through the complexities of grief and find healing together.

If you or someone you know is seeking words of comfort, I invite you to explore In Remembrance Of. May it resonate with you and serve as a reminder that grief is not the end, it is a pathway to remembrance, healing, and enduring love.
