Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

In Remembrance Of is a poetry book written by Larry D. Laine with contributions from his wife, Diane Josephson Laine, and his daughter, Karin Laine McMillen. The book cover features a captivating painting by his daughter, Britta.

The book reflects the period when Larry’s family was grieving after the death of his daughter, Ingrid. Larry hopes the book will help others in their grief and in life. The love the family feels for Ingrid shines through, and all of the poems are moving and eloquent. Some of them refer to nature and show how the natural world can provide peace and comfort.

The poems are authentic and represent the real person Ingrid was ,  her engaging character, as well as her struggles with alcohol. The poem Karin, Britta, Larry by Diane portrays how a family’s foundations can be shaken while grieving. Our World Stopped When You Died by Diane reflects on how daily tasks feel in grief, while nature still offers comfort. Lost Sister, written by Karin, is a heartfelt tribute to Ingrid. Larry’s poem You Are

Home speaks of acceptance, ending with the moving lines:

“In your light, which never fades
like a star that twinkles evermore
you will dwell in the hearts of all
forever and forever and forever.”

As a pastor, Larry naturally weaves God and faith into some of the poems, offering comfort to people of faith, though even non-religious readers will find strong connections in his words

This book will surely bring comfort to anyone who is grieving. The editing is flawless, and there is nothing to dislike.
